Compassionate Animal Resources for the Elderly (CARE) was started by a group of five women with a passion for helping the community’s elderly keep their companion pets in the home. It became apparent to us that many elderly were forced to relinquish their beloved pet because they couldn’t afford the high cost of veterinary care, regular grooming or boarding in the event of a short hospital stay. We realized there had to be a solution and the idea of CARE was born.

Through our fundraising efforts we are able to help community members age 65 and older with companion pet expenses, such as vetting, grooming and boarding. Services are currently available to residents of Washington County, Ohio and Wood County, West Virginia. Our supporters have been very generous and it is our hope to expand to surrounding counties soon.

If you would like to be a supporter of CARE there are several ways to make a tax-deductible donation. Click on the donate button at the top of this page, mail your check to 104 Sweetbriar Place, Marietta, Ohio 45750, or attend one of our fundraisers. Also, as a result of a generous supporter, CARE has been fortunate to open a charitable donor fund account at Marietta Community Foundation where supporters may make tax-deductible donations.

Why? Because we CARE?
